Albanian Society for the Study of English (ASSE)

The Albanian Society for the Study of English (ASSE) was founded in November 2009 in Vlora. Its aim is to promote and advance English studies in Albania and it welcomes university teachers, researchers or people professionally involved with the study of English, literatures in English and cultures of English-speaking countries. The society seeks to establish contacts among scholars in English studies within Albania and other European countries. ASSE provides an opportunity for Albanian scholars to exchange knowledge and skills, to coordinate activities within Albanian universities and to encourage professional cooperation among them for the promotion of these studies.

ASSE successfully completed the negotiations to become a member of The European Society for the Study of English (ESSE) at the ESSE Board meeting in Turin, Italy, in August 2010 and it enjoys full membership since January 2011.

This event represents one of the most important achievements in the realm of scientific research in English studies in Albania and the society hopes to make its own valuable contribution to ESSE. Its principal aim is to grow in membership with scholars coming from various Albanian universities.
